Educational institutions to be supported in development of projects financed by World Bank

Chisiau, 19 November /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) continues to provide support to public higher education institutions and pedagogical colleges in drafting project proposals participating in the funding program, launched in October.
After two training sessions, the project teams from the eligible institutions had an online meeting yesterday with Minister of Education and Research Anatolie Topală. In this context, the unclear aspects appeared in the process of elaboration of the proposals were discussed, especially those concerning the eligibility criteria for the public institutions of higher education and for the pedagogical colleges; activities eligible for funding; minimum and maximum financial allocations, period for submission of project proposals; their evaluation, procurement procedures; disbursement methods, etc.
The Minister emphasized the importance of argumentation in the process of drafting project proposals and stressed that it relies on the involvement of university rectors and directors of pedagogical colleges, this being a unique opportunity to substantially improve the quality of the teaching-learning environment. lead them. "This investment program aims to modernize and equip institutions in order to connect the education system to the requirements of the labor market," said Anatolie Topala.
This program will be open to public institutions of higher education and pedagogical colleges that train specialists in the fields of: Educational Sciences, Engineering and Engineering Activities, Information and Communication Technologies, Health, etc. The total value of the program is 24.7 million euros, and the money can also be used to modernize and equip study rooms, laboratories and research centers.
Each of the eligible higher education institutions will be able to benefit from a maximum amount of 2.15 million euros, and each eligible pedagogical college - from a maximum amount of 900 thousand euros. The deadline for submitting the competition form is December 13, 2021.
The Higher Education in Moldova project was launched in 2020 and provides systemic interventions to improve the quality, funding and management of higher education. The project will end in 2025, the value of the loan granted by the World Bank for its implementation is 35.7 million euros.
