Chisinau, 19 November /MOLDPRES/- The National Social Insurance House (CNAS) instructed the elderly in the Republic of Moldova how to use online, directly from their mobile phone, the public services provided by the institution. The trainings were organized as part of a pilot initiative of the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) and CNAS, as part of the digital skills connect generations project.
According to CNAS data, in 2021 trainings were organized in 15 localities from Soldanesti, Rezina, Basarabeasca, Leova, Orhei and Straseni districts, attended by 300 elderly women and men.
In each locality, the meetings were held by two employees of the Territorial Social Insurance Houses of the respective districts. Civil servants helped the elderly to access the personal account on the website www.cnas.gov.md and to get acquainted with information and services such as: the amount of salary and social insurance contributions paid by employers to the social insurance budget state; the online submission of the application for re-examination of the old-age pension; use of the retirement age computer; online scheduling of services provided by CTAS, so as to avoid extra travel, especially during pandemics.
The trainings were part of the Digital Skills Connect Generations project, initiated by UNFPA during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the aim of digitally literating older people by involving young people and helping them overcome social isolation.
According to statistics, in the Republic of Moldova, only 3 out of 10 elderly people have access to digital technologies. Also, the Active Aging Index, launched by UNFPA, shows that lifelong learning is a poorly developed and still poorly promoted field in the Republic of Moldova - only two out of 10 people over the age of 55 work in this field.
