New local elections held in 15 settlements of Moldova

Chisinau, 21 November /MOLDPRES/ - New local elections take place in 15 settlements of Moldova, including the Balti municipality. Over 130,600 citizens with right to vote are expected at the polls.
Most electors are to participate in the ballot in the northern Balti city, where 101,937 citizens with right to vote are registered. The smallest number of voters included in the register of electors is in the Stefanesti settlement, south-eastern Stefan Voda district, where 937 people are counted.
To hold the elections, the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) approved the printing of 130,917 ballot papers. Thus, to elect the Balti mayor, 102,105 ballot papers were printed, of which 51,988 in the Romanian language and 50,117 in Russian. As many as 28,812 ballot papers were printed for the election of mayors in the other 14 settlements in all, of which 24,538 in Romanian and 4,274 in Russian.
At the same time, to ensure the participation in the voting of the citizens with expired identity papers, 21 November 2021 was declared working day for the employees of the subdivisions in charge of the issuance of identity papers in the constituencies where new local polls are held.
The Central Electoral Commission informed that the organized carriage of voters to the polling stations from those 15 settlements where new local elections are carried out was banned. The Police General Inspectorate and the National Motor Transport Agency verify the passenger transport routes, in order to prevent infringements in the electoral field.
