Local elections for mayor office held as normal in Moldova

Chisinau, 21 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) informs that all those 88 polling stations opened for the new local elections for the mayor office presently work as normal. The electoral process takes place calmly, without incidents.
According to information submitted by CEC to the General Police Inspectorate (IGP), 293 Police employees and five teams of the National Motor Transport Agency are involved to ensure the public order and security, reacting to the requests by the electoral bureaus of the polling stations. The Police employees organized the activity of ensuring and maintaining the public order and security in the area of 100 metres around the polling station.
Four cases of infringement of the electoral legislation (in the Balti and Falesti electoral constituencies) have been registered so far. Two of these cases refer to a reasonable suspicion of electoral agitation and another two – to reasonable suspicion of corrupting voters. The materials are at the stage of verification and establishing the circumstances of cases notified, of producing evidence, in order to take decisions corresponding to deeds.
At the same time, through Observers module, a notification was submitted, reading about the non-observance by the civil servants of an electoral bureau of a polling station from the Cupcini town, Northern Edinet district, of the rules of protection against COVID-19.
New local polls for mayor office take place in 15 settlements of Moldova today.
