Chisinau, 22 November /MOLDPRES/- Preliminary results of the vote count in Balti show that representative of the Shor Party Marina Tauber has the highest number of votes accumulated in yesterday's elections for mayor.
The Central Electoral Commission announced that the hierarchically inferior electoral bodies have completed the counting process and presented the preliminary results of the new local elections for mayor in Balti and 14 other localities in the country.
In Bălți, where 11 candidates for mayor participated, Marina Tauber accumulated the highest number of votes - 15,918 (47.93%), in second place is the independent candidate Nicolai Grigorișin - 6,951 votes and on third place Alexandr Nesterovschi with 4,677 votes.
The information presented until the receipt of the original documents from the constituency electoral councils is preliminary.
In accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Code, the candidate for mayor is considered elected if he / she has gathered more than half of the validly cast votes of the voters who participated in the voting. If no candidate meets this condition, a second ballot will be held within 2 weeks with 2 candidates who received the highest number of votes in the first ballot.
On Sunday, November 21, new local elections for mayor took place in 15 localities in the country.
