Chisinau, 23 November /MOLDPRES/- The promulgation decree and the Law amending Law No438/2006 on regional development in the Republic of Moldova were published in today's issue of the Official Journal.
The document provides for the amplification of the accents of the regional development policy including all the regions of the Republic of Moldova, not only the least developed ones. Thus, the project reformulates the general objective of regional development: increasing the competitiveness and sustainable development of each region, adjusting disparities and increasing the quality of life of citizens.
The law also provides for the assignment of several functions to regional development agencies, for example, those for the development of regional development strategies and programs. Changes will be made regarding the approval of the structure and composition, but also the attributions of the National Council for Coordination of Regional Development, as well as of the Regional Council for Development.
Also, the provision of the allocation of the means of the National Fund for Regional Development to the disadvantaged areas of the development regions is excluded, following the competitiveness of all regions and their economic development.
This law enters into force on January 1, 2022. The Government, within six months from the date of entry into force of the law, shall bring its normative acts in accordance with it.
