Digital center to be set up in Balti to connect companies from northern Moldova

Chisinau, 23 November / MOLDPRES / - The Digital Innovation Hub will be created in Balti - a digital center that will support companies in the north of the country to become more competitive, by improving processes, products and services, with the help of digital technologies. The hub will also provide financial support for tech initiatives and ideas that can be business development.
The Digital Innovation Hub will be implemented by the Association for the Development of Electronic Communications and Innovative Technologies (ACETI) with the support of the Ministry of Economy, ADR Northeast Romania and the support of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Swedish Government in the Future Technologies Project.
Digital Innovation Hub will be created after the European Digital Innovation Hub model in Romania and will provide connections between startups, investors, access to financing for digital transformation, being at the same time a platform to connect companies in the region with professionals, future specialists, suppliers and users. The Digital Innovation Hub will be created as a One-Stop-Shop structure and will support companies in developing strategic visions for business, specialized training, research in the field, while facilitating access to funds and investments.
According to Ion Bodrug, president of the Association for the Development of Electronic Communications and Innovative Technologies, the creation of Digital Innovation Hub in the Balti region will provide companies in the area with access to digitization processes, information resources and consulting to facilitate the transition to innovation. "Moreover, the existence of the hub will contribute to the consolidation of a viable ecosystem, for more competitiveness and added value. We want our young people to benefit from employment opportunities and to develop exceptional projects in the localities where they live. We have an ideal context and we have all the expertise to contribute to the economic development of related fields through technologies ", says Bodrug.
"Digital Innovation Hub is a strategic initiative for the northern part of the country and through the Future Technologies Project we will be together in the coming years to ensure the application of technologies, requalification of human capital and absorption of innovations in northern companies, regardless of field of activity ", Doina Nistor, director of the Future Technologies Project said.
The representatives of Digital Innovation Hub aim to register the innovation center on the JRC international platform by the end of 2023 in order to expand the direct collaboration with other digitalisation and innovation hubs of the Member States of the European Union.
Future Technologies (FTA) is a strategic continuation of the Moldova Competitiveness Project, implemented between September 2015 and September 2021, which advanced the competitiveness of four emerging economic sectors - viticulture, tourism, light industry and information technologies. The project has a total budget of $ 32.8 million, provided by USAID and Sweden, and will be implemented between 2021-2026.
