57 percent of Chisinau city hall's budget for next year could be social spending

Chisinau, 24 November / MOLDPRES /- Chisinau city hall has proposed for public consultation the draft municipal budget for 2022, which amounts to 5.1 billion lei, 57 percent of which is expected to be social spending.
According to the draft budget, the municipality of Chisinau aims to achieve revenues of 771.6 million lei next year, 380.5 million more than this year.
At the same time, the municipal budget expenditures for 2022 are planned at 6.2 billion lei, 34.4 million lei less compared to 2021. The budget deficit is forecast at 1.1 billion lei.
The share of transfers from the state budget is expected to be 2.1 billion lei and taxes and fees are estimated to bring 1.6 billion lei to the municipal budget.
In the total expenditures of the municipal budget, a large share is held by social expenditures, in nominal value of 3.3 billion lei, which would mean that 57.2 percent of expenditures will be for education, culture, health care and social protection.
The program of investments and capital repairs for 2022 is estimated to amount to 196 million lei, ie 3.1 percent of the total. Compared to this year, the expenses are increasing by 1.03 percent or 2 million lei.
