Head of Psychiatric Hospital in Bălți investigated for abuse of office

Chisinau, 24 November / MOLDPRES /- Head of the Psychiatric Hospital in Balti is under criminal investigation for abuse of office by the CNA and anti-corruption prosecutors, after he forced his subordinates to give him a monthly salary.

According to CNA, the suspect was collecting protection fees from doctors and auxiliary staff in order not to create problems for them. According to the statements of the witnesses, the amounts accumulated monthly by the boss varied between 3,000 and 10,000 lei, and so far damages have been calculated, brought to the employees, of over 100,000 lei.

CNA officers have initiated a criminal investigation for abuse of office and have, these days, carried out searches at the suspect's office. Also, several people from the institution were heard who, at this stage, acknowledge the facts of the chief doctor and cooperate with the investigators.

Currently, the woman is being investigated in a state of freedom, and if found guilty, she risks up to 6 years in prison, with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions for a term of 2 to 5 years.
