Moldovan parliament appoints members of council of supervision of national television

Chisinau, 25 November /MOLDPRES/ - The MPs today approved seven members of the council of supervision and development of the national public provider of media services.
Arcadie Gherasim, Sergiu Stanciu, Corneliu Popovici, Aurelian Danila, Loretta Handrabura, Cristian Jardan and Irina Matenco were appointed in the council with lawmakers’ majority vote.
Fourteen people submitted files at the contest for holding the positions of the council of supervision of the national television. The commission members interviewed 12 candidates: Arcadie Gherasim and Sergiu Stanciu, put forward by the parliamentary majority; Corneliu Popovici put up by the opposition; nine candidates put forward by civil society’s organizations: Ecaterina Cheptanaru, Grigore Ciorici, Aurelian Danila, Alexandru Grosu, Loretta Handrabura, Cristian Jardan, Irina Matenco, Leonid Smolnitchi and Alexandru Versinin.
Under the legislation, the council of supervision and development of the national public provider of media services is made up of seven members – three ones put forward by the parliamentary factions and four put up by civil society’s organizations. The members of the council of supervision and development are nominated by majority vote, for a single mandate of six years.
