Chisinau, 25 November /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s government has great ambitions and special aspirations as regards the transports sector and makes sustained efforts to this end, with the European Union’s support. Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita made statements to this affect at a news briefing given jointly with European Commissioner for Transport Adina Valean, after a meeting between the two officials today evening.
„We pay special attention to the transports sector and we have created for this a ministry due to deal with this field as a priority. We have managed to carry out more projects, many of them have continuity and we have other planned ones. We have on the agenda the construction of local, regional and international roads; we want to get the railway out of the degradation in which it has reached. Or, we adopted a new Railway Code for this; we appealed to European specialists to revive this important sector,’’ the PM said.
Natalia Gavrilita appreciated the support of the European Union and especially the one of Romania in the implementation of the governmental programme in transports. ‘’We everybody wait for the moment to arrive in Bucharest quicker, on a modern highway or by an advanced train,’’ the Moldovan prime minister noted.
For her part, Adina Valean stressed that this was her first visit outside the European Union and she attached special connotation to the fact that the visit was namely to Moldova.
The European commissioner appreciated the Moldovan government’s pragmatism, with which it approaches more issues, especially in the transport sector. The European Commissioner official gave assurances that Moldova would benefit from support, both financial and technical and administrative ones, in order to carry out its agenda of activities.
Adina Valean referred to the European Commission’s decision, according to which all air companied registered in Moldova had been got out of the list of air companies banned in EU, as a result of the improvement of the air safety in Moldova. ‘’This is a happy coincidence for me to announce this news during this visit. I just want to say that the government has taken the measures necessary and cooperated with European partners, in order to remedy the situation. Moldova had to do some things and it has done them. We can presently get out of this ‘’black list’’ all air carriers from Moldova, which open their way to resume the flights bound for EU,’’ European Commissioner for Transport Adina Valean added.
