Beekeeping complex opened in Orhei

Chisinau, Nov. 26 / MOLDPRES /. A beekeeping complex for collecting, processing, packing and storing bee honey was inaugurated yesterday in Orhei, thanks to a grant provided by the World Bank through the Competitive Agriculture in Moldova Project (MAC-P).

In 2019, five beekeepers from Orhei joined forces and created a cooperative of entrepreneurs in order to modernize the beekeeping sector and increase the competitiveness of bee products in the sales markets.

Thus, one hundred thousand dollars were the investments of the members of the cooperative, the amount of about eight hundred thousand dollars was accessed through a loan through the project Livada Moldovei, and following the submission of the application file to MAC-P in 2020, the producer group benefited from $ 350,000.

"You are an example of tenacity for beekeepers, especially because you have decided to join forces and knowledge through association. I wish you to face all the challenges, to consolidate the investments and to deliver products with added value on the foreign markets ", Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Viorel Gherciu said.

During 2021, construction works of the bee honey collection, processing and packaging center took place in Orhei, which were completed this autumn. Currently, the complex has a storage capacity of about five hundred tons of finished production, being equipped with equipment for processing and packaging of honey.
