Cyclists from Moldovan capital to organize protest walk

Chisinau, 26 November /MOLDPRES/ - The community of cyclists from Moldova’s capital today will stage a protests action on bicycles.  

The Chisinau Bicycles Alliance – non-governmental association which defends cyclists’ rights - informed on social networks about the organization of a walk of protest against the Chisinau city hall and the Interior Ministry. According to the Association, the two institutions are in charge of the implementation of the alternative transport in the capital. ‘’The protest walk on the Stefan cel Mare boulevard will have two stops – outside the city hall, in charge of creating the infrastructure for bicycles in Chisinau and outside the Interior Ministry (MAI), competent with the change and improvement of the Road Traffic Regulation,’’ the announcement reads.    

According to the cyclists’ association, despite the efforts made by this community to cooperate with the city hall, the dedicated infrastructure has not yet appeared and MAI for over two years has been delaying the process of amendment of the Road Traffic Regulation in favour of cyclists.  

The protest will start on the square between the 31 August and A. Pushkin streets at 18:00.
