The head of the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Health, Boris Gâlcă, said at today's online meeting of the municipal services that the local authorities “are worried about possible wave of COVID-19 caused by the coronavirus mutation in South Africa - omicron ”and are preparing to deal with this“ possible threat ”. "We continue the vaccination measures of the population, we prepare strategically and secure the medical spaces in the municipality and we update the plans for the purchase of medicines", Gâlcă said.
At the same time, Chisinau mayor Ion Ceban said that the mobile immunization points, the bus and the trolleybus, will take part in a weekly vaccination marathon. "Together with several HORECA representatives, we will give vouchers with which vaccinated people will be able to buy food. The vaccination marathon will take place every Saturday and Sunday in December ", said Ceban.
The mayor said "in the context of the omicron variant, the preparation of medical facilities is absolutely necessary to be able to cope with another pandemic wave", but the best COVID-19 protection is offered by the vaccine, he said.
