Moldovan foreign affairs minister receives delegation of Germany's Defence Ministry

Chisinau, 30 November /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu today received a delegation led by the head of the Security and Defence Policies Department at the Federal Defence Ministry of Germany Rear-Admiral Axel Ristau.
The press service of the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) has told MOLDPRES that the two officials reviewed the priorities of the Moldovan-German bilateral relations; an important subject of the discussions was the further development of the cooperation in the security and defence sector.
During time, the Moldovan-German relations have had a firm and stable character, which allowed extending the spectrum of the bilateral partnership through joint trainings, activities, projects and initiatives.
„The Moldovan government promotes the goal of modernization of the security and defence sector, in accordance with the requirements of the current security environment, developing the capacities to cope with the new challenges,’’ Deputy PM Nicu Popescu said.
Nicu Popescu reconfirmed Moldova’s interest in the expertise, experience and assistance of Germany, including through a fruitful cooperation within the programmes implemented by the European Union and the North-Atlantic Alliance.
„The goal pursued by the authorities is to strengthen the security of the country and the citizens, as well as the contribution to the promotion of the regional security and stability and on the European continent,’’ the Moldovan diplomacy head noted.
At the same time, Nicu Popescu thanked the German side for the humanitarian assistance provided to Moldova, including in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
