Moldovan diplomacy head to participate in 28th meeting of OSCE Ministerial Council in Stockholm

Chisinau, 1 December /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu will participate in the 28th annual meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) due on 1-3 December in Stockholm, the state which holds the OSCE chairmanship-in-office.
According to the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service, the foreign affairs ministers from those 57 OSCE participating states will exchange opinions on topical issues on the organization’s agenda on those three dimensions: political and military, economic and environmental and humanitarian dimension.
The ministers will discuss the challenges hitting the OSCE region, as well as the implications on the organization’s work, on the whole.
The participants in the event will pay special attention to the conflicts in the OSCE area and their impact on the observance of the human rights and the fundamental freedoms, as well as the ways of strengthening the European security.
At the Ministerial Council, the Moldovan diplomacy head will speak about Moldova’s visions on the aforementioned issues and will unveil the country’s position as to the process of settlement of the conflict in the eastern districts of Moldova.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Minister Nicu Popescu will have a string of bilateral meetings with United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken, NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoana, as well as with his counterparts from Sweden, Poland, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Ireland, Kyrgyzstan, North Macedonia and others. Also, the Moldovan diplomacy head will participate in the meeting of the ministerial council of the member states of GUAM (Organization for Democracy and Economic Development), within which Moldova is to take over the rotating presidency as of 1 January 2022.
