Foreign affairs minister says Moldova receives strong support message on behalf of USA for reforms underway

Chisinau, 2 December /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu has had a meeting with the American diplomacy head, Antony Blinken, on the sidelines of the meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Stockholm, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
„I was happy to receive a strong message of support on behalf of the United States for the agenda of reforms initiated by the authorities,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu said.
At the meeting, the two heads of diplomacies discussed subjects on the development and strengthening of the Moldovan-American relations in various fields of mutual interest within the Strategic Dialogue, the need to re-launch the sectoral working groups in the fields of justice and rule of law state, commercial and economic sectors, energy security.
At the same time, the diplomats exchanged opinions on the present situation in the Eastern Europe region, as well as the recent developments on the Transnistrian file. In the context, Deputy PM Nicu Popescu thanked his interlocutor for the support of the United States in the 5+2 format of negotiations.
„I highlighted the usefulness of the American assistance and expertise in strengthening the democratic institutions, fighting the high-level corruption, advancement of the justice reform and improvement of the investment climate,’’ Nicu Popescu said.
