Moldovan diplomacy head participates in meeting of committee of foreign affairs ministers from GUAM member states

Chisinau, 2 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan diplomacy head, Nicu Popescu, has participated in a meeting of the Committee of Foreign Affairs Ministers of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development (GUAM), held in Stockholm, on the sidelines of the OSCE Ministerial Council.
The Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s press bureau has reported that the meeting represented a favourable framework for evaluating the GUAM’s achievements in exercising the priorities established and gave the participants possibility to exchange opinions on perspectives of strengthening the cooperation between the member states and on other relevant subjects for the organization’s agenda.
„I expressed appreciation to my Georgian counterpart David Zalkaliani for the work and efforts made in the achievement of the goals set in exercising the mandate of Chairman this year, despite the constraints triggered by the pandemic,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu said.
A the event, the Moldovan foreign affairs minister reaffirmed Moldova’s commitment for the promotion of an approach aimed developing and implementing regional projects, with direct impact for the economies of the member states, in the context of Moldova taking over the GUAM chairmanship-in-office in 2022.
„The mandate of the Chairmanship of our country will coincide with the 25th anniversary of this regional cooperation format – an opportune occasion for organizing various events, in order to enhance the visibility and revive the dynamic of the dialogue in this format,’’ Nicu Popescu said.
On 1-3 December, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu participates in the 28th annual meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), held in Stockholm, Sweden, the country holding the OSCE chairmanship-in-office.
