Two people detained after trying to put counterfeit dollars into circulation

Chisinau, 6 Dec. / MOLDPRES /- Officers from the Chisinau Police Directorate's Complex Investigation Section found and annihilated criminal activity of two people, residents of the capital, who tried to put 2,400 counterfeit dollars into circulation.

According to the police, for four months, the law enforcement officers documented the activity of the two suspects. Through several foreign exchange offices, they put into circulation the banknotes with a face value of $ 100, which turned out to be signs of counterfeiting. The actions of those persons were fixed by the surveillance cameras installed at the exchange offices.

As a result of the searches at the suspects' homes, money, mobile phones, and SIM cards that were used to commit the crime were found and seized.

In this case, a criminal case has been initiated for the fabrication or circulation of counterfeit signs or counterfeits. If found guilty, the two risk up to 7 to 15 years in prison.
