Reintegration Policy Office head meets British Ambassador to Chisinau

Chisinau, Dec. 7 / MOLDPRES /- A productive conversation on various issues related to the Transnistrian issue and the interaction between the two banks of the Dniester took place between head of the Reintegration Policy Office Alin Gvidiani and Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Chisinau Steven Fisher, the Reintegration Policy Office has reported.
Alin Gvidiani noted the dynamic in the dialogue formats between Chisinau and Tiraspol, the achievement at the meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Stockholm by approving the 10th consecutive statement on Transnistrian settlement, and stated that the national authorities are always in the service of citizens from all over the country, including those in the eastern part of the Republic of Moldova, and the consistent assistance provided in health care during the pandemic period is a notable example in this regard.
During the talks, attention was drawn to the very worrying situation regarding the observance of fundamental human rights and freedoms in the Transnistrian region, which unfortunately continues to complicate and affect the daily life and legitimate rights of many citizens. In this context, they pointed out the need to join forces with external partners in order to bring events back to the level of universally enshrined guarantees, the protection of democracy, the rule of law and the constitutional rights of the inhabitants of both banks of the Dniester River.
The conversation also highlighted the need to overcome several existing problems in the Transnistrian region in the field of education (removal of barriers and rehabilitation of the single space, ensuring the right to education in the mother tongue, non-discrimination of students on various criteria, etc.), especially those concerning the educational institutions with teaching in Romanian in respect of which it is imperative that the sustainable solution of the issue of providing premises and land related to them in accordance with the educational standards in force and Tiraspol's waiver of provocative and unilateral actions.
