Moldovan, European officials broach cooperation, reforms

Chisinau, Dec. 8 / MOLDPRES /- Speaker Igor Grosu met with Deputy Director General for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Katarína Mathernová, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
One of the main topics discussed at the meeting was ensuring the energy security of the Republic of Moldova.
Grosu noted that the parliament will support the government's effort in implementing the social package, granting compensatory measures and adjusting the energy legal framework.
He thanked the European official for the support in modernization and reform of the country, especially the assistance in the management of the energy and pandemic crisis.
The officials also spoke about the parliamentary agenda. The speaker reconfirmed in the context that the zero priority is the justice reform and cleansing the state institutions.
"We want the justice institutions to become functional and to act in the interests of the citizens," he said.
Another topic was the Eastern Partnership Summit this month. In this regard, Igor Grosu reiterated that the new government is ready to fulfill all the commitments made with its European partners, and this will improve the quality of life of citizens.
