Modern system of population's informing, warning to be created in Moldova

Chisinau, 8 December /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers, at a today’s meeting, voted for the liquidation of the system of information and transmission in case of danger or appearance of emergency situations in Moldova, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

The need to abrogate the regulations starts from the fact that the system of informing about the emergency situation is obsolete, dating back from 1980s and was conceived to notify the residents in case of risks with military character and air attacks. At the same time, the technical and organizational maintenance of the system implies higher annual expenses from the state budget. For instance, for this year, the sum amounts to about 635,000 lei. Only 127 out of the 800 sirens set in Moldova are still functional.       

The Interior Ministry is set to create a modern system of informing and warning the population, which is to provide a high degree of safety and performance. Presently the institution is at the phase of identifying technical, administrative and financial solutions. The new system will include also the digital and communication channels, which will be able to inform the residents quickly and efficiently.
