Sustainable use of water resourses from Prut, Dniester, Danube rivers on Moldovan government's agenda

Chisinau, 8 December /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova and Romania will continue cooperation on the sustainable use of the water resources from the Prut and Danube rivers. The cabinet of ministers today approved the updating of the composition of the Moldovan side in the inter-governmental hydro-technical commission for the implementation of the Moldovan-Romanian agreement on cooperation for the protection and sustainable use of the Prut and Danube rivers’ waters. The document was signed in Chisinau in 2010, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The goal of the updating of the commission’s composition is triggered by the need of protection and sustainable use of the water resources, exploitation of the Costesti-Stanca Hydro-technical Knot, as well as of enforcing other provisions of the agreement.
Also, decision-makers will initiate the organization of the second session of the inter-governmental hydro-technical commission on the territory of Moldova.
At the same time, the cabinet of ministers, at the today’s meeting, approved another draft, which sees the updating of the composition of the official delegation to the negotiation of the agreement between the governments of Moldova and Ukraine on ensuring the work of the Dniester Hydro-electric Power Plant.
The last meeting on negotiating the agreement took place in Kiev in December 2018.
