Moldovan foreign affairs minister meets U.S. official

Chisinau, 8 December /MOLDPRES/ - The USA’s assistance for Moldova and projects implemented in diverse sectors, dynamic of the political dialogue and the importance of turning to good account the potential of the Moldovan-American cooperation have been considered at a meeting between Deputy PM, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu and Coordinator of U.S. Assistance for Europe and Eurasia at the United States Department of State Jim Kulikowski.
According to the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE), the diplomats discussed subjects on the development and consolidation of the Moldovan-American relations in diverse sectors of mutual interest. The sides emphasized the importance of giving a concrete dimension to the Moldova-USA ties.
„I expressed appreciation for the significant U.S. assistance in ensuring continuous process of the country’s modernization, backing the economic development, promoting the digitalization, developing the infrastructure and strengthening the energy and resilience of Moldova,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu said.
Among the subjects discussed, there was one related to the perspective of cooperation in the cyber security field. Jim Kulikowski expressed openness for the development of cooperation and continuous support for the processes of consolidation of Moldova’s cyber security capacities, including from the perspective of eventual assistance and expertise in the legislative sphere.
USA remains a consistent supporter for Moldova. The American official confirmed the United States’ willingness to further back Moldova, including through providing assistance according to the priorities of the Moldovan government and the needs identified in the sectoral fields of major importance.
