Moldovan PM, Romanian president discuss boosting of bilateral cooperation between Romania and Moldova

Chisinau, 9 December /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita, during her official visit to Bucharest, today was received by President Klaus Iohannis at the Cotroceni Palace. The meeting took place in the context of the visit to Bucharest by President Maia Sandu on 23 November and the signing of the updated roadmap as to the priority fields of cooperation between Romania and Moldova, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The officials appreciated the Moldovan-Romanian political dialogue in all sectors. The sides stressed the importance of boosting the cooperation at the governmental level and quick implementation of the priority actions established in the roadmap. The document sees actions of backing Moldova’s European integration and the process of democratic reforms, consolidation of the communities of language, history and culture between Romania and Moldova, assistance in the country’s economic and social development.
"The roadmap as to the priority fields of cooperation Romania-Moldova is an important document, which will guide, at the governmental level, the cooperation between our states on the next period, comprising as concrete as possible goals,’’ Natalia Gavrilita said.
The Moldovan PM thanked President Iohannis, on behalf of Moldova’s citizens, for the substantial support provided to the country during years. PM Natalia Gavrilita thanked for the solidarity showed by the Romanian state for Moldova’s citizens in the fight against COVID-19, as well as in the management of the gas crisis. For his part, President Klaus Iohannis thanked for the effort of Moldovan physicians, who worked for weeks along with physicians from the Letcani modular hospital.
The officials discussed also joint projects from the energy sector, in the context of finishing of the Iasi-Ungheni-Chisinau gas transportation pipeline, with the help of which will be able to make important steps in ensuring the independence and energy security.
The prime minister stressed that the fight against corruption represented the essential pre-condition in the process of Moldova’s transformation into a European state. ‘’In this way, we will persuade our citizens to return or remain at home, in this way, we will strengthen the state’s institutions, in this way, we will attract more investors due to create well-paid jobs for the citizens. We want more investors from Romania in Moldova and the government I lead is the guarantee that the business people will start being treated correctly and backed in our country,’’ the prime minister added.
