Moldovan, Lithuanian officials broach cooperation

Chisinau, Dec. 10 / MOLDPRES /- We express our gratitude for maintaining Moldova on the list of priority development assistance states provided by Lithuania, and the continuous support our country benefits from in implementing structural reforms at the national level. Prime Minister Natalia Gavriliţa made the statement today at a briefing with Lithuanian counterpart Ingrida Šimonytė after a government meeting.
Natalia Gavriliţa mentioned in context the batch of Covid vaccine offered by Lithuania, as well as the over one hundred projects supported by this country in 2006-2020, which directly contributed to the improvement of the lives of Moldovan citizens, as well as to the consolidation of good governments.
"By 2021, the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already approved five bilateral development assistance projects in areas such as good governance, democracy building and civil society. These projects will contribute, among other things, to the company's resistance to misinformation and will provide recommendations for the implementation of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement in transport ", the official said.
The premier said she and the Prime Minister of Vilnius attended the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova. "This document will contribute to strengthening the institutional and governance capacity in our country, constituting only one of the series of actions on the bilateral agenda of Moldovan-Lithuanian cooperation," the official said.
"The government I lead has already taken several concrete steps to strengthen co-operative relations with our Lithuanian partners. In this context, I will mention the recognition and conversion of driving licenses, a fact long awaited by the diaspora. Also due to Lithuania, the concept of Associated Trio takes root and develops. I want to thank Lithuania for the constant support given to the Republic of Moldova in advancing the dialogue with the European Union, Lithuania being one of the close partners of our country ", said Natalia Gavriliţa.
For her part, Ingrida Šimonytė reiterated Lithuania's support for the Republic of Moldova and Government and said "Lithuania is a supporter of Moldova's aspirations to join the European family." "We have experience on the road to the EU, we have had a lot to learn and we have learned on the go, or we are ready to share our practices with our colleagues in Chisinau," the Lithuanian prime minister said.
"We are with the Republic of Moldova and we are ready to intensify relations, being sincerely determined to provide tangible and real support," said Ingrida Šimonytė.
Ingrida Šimonytė is paying a working visit to Chisinau and will hold meetings with the country's top leadership.
