Chisinau, 10 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Employers’ Association, Organic Value Chain Alliance of Moldova (MOVCA), has recently become member of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) – a community of about 800 affiliates from over 100 countries.

MOVCA is the first organization of Moldova which got the status of IFOAM member; thus, Moldova is represented in an international structure from this field for the first time.

„The joining of efforts with similar people and organizations allows implementing projects on development of the ecological agriculture, forming capacities of leader and backing really sustainable agriculture and food systems,’’ the MOVCA executive director, Victoria Ceban, said.

Founded in 1972, IFOAM – Organics International is an organization created by members which work to get a true sustainability of agriculture all over the world.

„The food and agriculture systems existing in the world presently face multiple challenges, from the spread of famine, climate changes and loss of biodiversity and up to the fact that farmers and employees of the food system do not get decent incomes. The way the food products are produced and consumed can either attenuate or exacerbate these conditions,’’ IFOAM representatives said.

Along with its affiliates from over 100 countries and territories, as well as with its regional organizations and sectoral platforms, IFOAM – Organics International leads towards an ecological change, a press release of the organization reads.
