Moldovan policeman detained for bribe of 2,000 euros

Chisinau, 11 December /MOLDPRES/ - A policeman from the Complex Investigations Department of the National Investigations Inspectorate (INI) is prosecuted in a criminal file opened for passive corruption by the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA) and the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office (PA), with the operative support of the Strength Inspection Department of the General Police Inspectorate (IGP).
According to CNA, the policeman is suspected of having extorted 2,000 euros from an economic agent from Chisinau in exchange for ceasing a material from its procedure. The policeman was detained when he was receiving the money from the economic agent. After carrying out the search, law-enforcers raised the financial means delivered.
If found guilty, the policeman runs the risk of being imprisoned for up to 10 years, fine worth up to 8,000 conventional units and deprivation from the right to hold public offices for a period of up to 10 years.
