Number of teachers infected with coronavirus decreased in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, Dec. 13 / MOLDPRES /- More than a thousand pupils in Chisinau are in self-isolation.

Acting head of the General Directorate of Education, Youth and Sports of the Capital city hall Andrei Pavaloi said at today's online meeting of the municipal services that 1,116 pupils attending municipal educational institutions have contracted coronavirus and are in self-isolation.

"The number of illnesses among teachers is lower - 25 teachers and auxiliary workers, and this is due to the fact that 96 percent of the total number of teachers working in municipal educational institutions are vaccinated," Pavaloi said.

At the same time, the official said that in 20 municipal educational institutions the distance education process is continued, 1,728 pupils study online. "In these institutions there is a large number of students in the classroom, for this reason the school management preferred to keep this model of activity," said Pavaloi.

The official said that at the moment about 95 thousand pupils study in the municipal educational institutions and about 10 thousand teachers.
