Marculesti International Airport has great potential to be used - authorities say

Chisinau, Dec. 13 / MOLDPRES /- Director of the Public Property Agency (APP) Eugeniu Cozonac together with Minister of Economy Sergiu Gaibu today paid a working visit to Marculesti International Airport. Officials were briefed on the state of the art and discussed the possibilities for renovating, developing and modernizing the airport.

During the meeting organized on the spot, the administrator of the company, Nicolae Clichici, mentioned that the Airport is operational, has international certification and can receive a wide range of ships at any time. One of the pressing issues, which needs urgent resolution and for which it has requested support, is the implementation of initiatives to stabilize the company's economic situation.

Also, the head of the Marculesti International Airport presented the airport equipment, the warehouses, the customs post, the equipped aircraft, as well as the renovated 2520-meter runway. "In the process of modernization is also the equipment, the technical means to secure the access of passengers and transport", Nicolae Clichici explained.

Eugeniu Cozonac stated that Marculesti International Airport has great potential that can be exploited. In this context, the necessary investments for the transformation of derelict buildings into useful objectives, such as the construction of a passenger terminal and a bus station, were discussed.

At present, around 50 people work at Mărculești International Airport.
