Advisory Council for Green Transition, Energy Security of Moldova set up

Chisinau, Dec. 13 / MOLDPRES /- On Friday, President Maia Sandu signed a decree establishing the Advisory Council for the Green Transition and Energy Security of the Republic of Moldova. The mission of the Council, which will work under the President is to contribute to ensuring the energy security of our country, and thus to respond to the new challenges in national security.
According to the presidential press service, the Advisory Council will coordinate the green transition and energy security of the state, as well as monitor the development and implementation by the government of the necessary public policies in this process. The Council will be chaired by Maia Sandu.
The head of state said that energy security is an important element of the country's security and means secure access to quality energy resources at reasonable prices. "We have to start over, invest in serious projects that will provide us with energy supply alternatives, in energy efficiency projects that will allow us to consume and pay less for energy. And, very importantly, we must use natural resources rationally and reduce pollution, " Maia Sandu said.
The Council includes Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița and Speaker Igor Grosu; Lilian Carp, Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defense and Public Order, and Radu Marian, Vice-Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Economy, Budget and Finance; Deputy Ministers Andrei Spinu (Infrastructure and Regional Development) and Nicu Popescu (Foreign Affairs and European Integration); Ministers Dumitru Budeanschi (Finance); Sergiu Gaibu (Economics); Iuliana Cantaragiu (Environment); Anatolie Nosatîi (Defense); Ana Revenco (Internal Affairs). Alexandr Esaulenco, Director of the Intelligence and Security Service, was also appointed to the Council; Eugen Carpov, director of the ANRE Board of Directors and Rozalina Albu, director of the State Fiscal Service.
