Citizen of Azerbaijan sentenced to 13 years of imprisonment for blackmail in Moldova

Chisinau, 14 December /MOLDPRES/ - A citizen of Azerbaijan has been sentenced to 13 years of imprisonment for the blackmailing of a citizen of Turkey, who lived in Chisinau.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office (PG), the Azeri citizen who lives in the capital would claimed from the Turkish citizen the return of an invented debt worth over 1.8 million lei. To this end, the defendant threatened the Turkish citizen with a folding knife, as well as with a pistol. Besides the death threat, the Azeri citizen obliged the victim to write a receipt through which he would allowed him to take the luxury car as pledge.

The Azeri was detained in April this year and placed under arrest, at a request by prosecutors of the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Causes.
