Moldovan diplomacy head participates in sixth Summit of Eastern Partnership

Chisinau, 14 December /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu participates in the sixth Summit of the Eastern Partnership (EaP) in the delegation led by President Maia Sandu, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.     

„The irreversibility of the European integration process, our country’s strategic goal, implies also the strengthening of the dialogue with the European Union. We will use the opportunity of our presence in Brussels, in order to discuss with high-ranking European officials, leaders of the EU member states and partner countries of EaP the boosting of our interaction in the political and security sectors, energy field and the one of environment, cooperation in the justice sector and internal affairs, ‘’ Deputy PM Nicu Popescu said.       

It is worth mentioning that Moldova is the country which got the greatest benefits within the Eastern Partnership, following the implementation of the Association Agreement and the free economic area, which practically resulted in sure and well-paid jobs, as well as through exports to the common European area.       

„The European Union’s solidarity and openness are well-known to each citizen through numerous projects from all regions of the country, implemented with generous support of European tax payers. On 15 December in Brussels, in the presence of the head of state, I will sign more agreements and documents of intent for concrete financial support in the field of infrastructure and energy efficiency,’’ the Moldovan diplomacy head said.   

The national delegation’s visits’ agenda includes bilateral meetings with the presidents and PMs of the EU member states, heads of European institutions, in the Associated Trio format – Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine - , as well as with the leaders from Armenia and Azerbaijan participating in the summit, which is meant to confirm the strategic goal of Moldova’s foreign policy to create sustainable and long-lasting friendships for the benefit of the citizens.
