Comrat MPs again failed to elect leadership of People's Assembly

Chisinau, 15 Dec. / MOLDPRES /- Gagauz MPs failed in yesterday's meeting to elect speaker and governing bodies of the autonomous legislature.

This was the eighth attempt to elect the failed APG president. In yesterday's meeting, the same two candidates were presented as last time: Dmitry Constantinov and Victor Petrov. Following the vote, it was found that Dmitry Constantinov was supported by 17 deputies, and Victor Petrov - by 15. One ballot paper was damaged and two deputies did not appear at the meeting. Thus, the choice of speaker was impossible.

Comrat deputies decided to continue the meeting on December 24, according to gagauzinfo.md.

Governor of Gagauzia Irina Vlah commented on the situation created in the People's Assembly “she sees in the meeting room a lot of selfishness and lack of ideas. We see a lot of obscure games and we don't see mutual respect or respect for the mandate of the deputy ". According to Bashkan, the deputies must prove by their own example that they can understand each other and find a compromise. "Without dialogue, we cannot build good autonomy, so that the population can be proud of the people it has delegated to the leadership of the region," said Irina Vlah.

The People's Assembly of Gagauzia (Gagauziyanin Halk Toplușu) is the representative and legislative authority of the Autonomous Territorial Unit with special status Gagauz-Yeri, part of the Republic of Moldova. APG consists of 35 deputies, elected for a four-year term, in uninominal territorial constituencies.

The last elections in the APG took place on September 19.
