More institutions apply for programme on improvement of higher education in Moldova

Chisinau, 15 December /MOLDPRES/ - Nine higher education institutions and six pedagogical colleges from Moldova have applied for the programme on the improvement of the higher education, financed by the World Bank. They train specialists in the fields of sciences of education, engineering and engineering activities, information and communication technologies, as well as health.    

The proposals of projects are to be assessed in three stages, going through the filter of an internal commission, an external commission, and in the last stage, a multidisciplinary committee made up of representatives of the Education and Research Ministry (MEC), State Chancellery, other relevant ministries and agencies, as well as of national and/or international experts in those four priority sectors.   

„The best projects will benefit from financing for the modernization and endowing of the education halls, laboratories and research centres. The programme’s overall valueis of 24.7 million euros.  The maximal sum from which a higher education institution will be able to benefit is of 2.15 million euros and a pedagogical college – 900,000 euros.’’ the Education Ministry said.

The investments programme fits in the Higher Education from Moldova Project, implemented in 2020-2025 by the Education and Research Ministry, with the financial support of the World Bank. The programme sees systemic interventions in the fields of improving the quality, financing and management of the higher education.
