Chisinau, 15 December /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu along with European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi, in the presence of President Maia Sandu and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, today signed the agreement on financing, Contract for State Consolidation and Resilience for Moldova, worth 60 million euros. The project was promoted by Finance Minister Dumitru Budianschi at a cabinet meeting on 14 December, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.

„The assistance provided by the European Union proves that we have true friends and an international reliability given to our government, which brings concrete benefits to the country’s citizens,’’ Deputy PM Nicu Popescu said.

This budgetary support programme completes the European Union’s Package of Economic Recovery for Moldova worth up to 600 million euros, which is to be implemented in the next three years.

„We will work in accelerated pace along with the government colleagues for the adoption, in a short time, of a national action plan in the energy crisis sector, a project meant to attenuate the social and economic impact as a result of the increase in the prices for natural gas, enhance the capacities to provide services to the vulnerable groups – mainly basic services to the residents – and to back the long-term social and economic recovery, energy security and energy transition for Moldova,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu said.
