Monument in memory of participants in Chernobyl accident relief works to be erected in south Moldova city

Chisinau, 22 December /MOLDPRES/ - A monument in the memory of the participants in the Chernobyl accident relief works will be created in the southern Taraclia city. The Taraclia city council has earlier adopted a decision to this end, at an initiative by the Public Association, Chernobyl Union of Moldova, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The monument will be constructed, in order to commemorate the residents of the Taraclia city involved in the Chernobyl relief works, as well as to promote patriotism among the young generation. Seventy five people born in the Taraclia district participated in the Chernobyl accident relief works, of whom 24 died.
The sketch of the monument will be approved by the Culture Ministry, through the National Council of Public Forum Monuments.
The spending needed for the designing and arrangement of the area adjacent will be covered from donations, sponsorships and other sources provided for by the legal framework.
