Construction of buildings to be banned on territory of green areas in Moldova

Chisinau, 24 December /MOLDPRES/ - The construction of capital buildings in the zone of green areas will be banned. The MPs today adopted a draft law to this effect in the final reading.   

The amendments made to the legislation are aimed at ceasing the acts of corruption and protectionism. Thus, the local public administration will be able to issue only authorizations for the placement of objects and installations compatible with the green areas, and namely of the ones for practicing sport, games and leisure or cultural and artistic objects and mobile commercial units.  

The draft also sees the amendment of the Contravention Code, for sanctioning the deeds of unauthorized construction and placement of objects on the territory of green areas, public property.  Thus, the Contravention Code was completed with an article, which envisages fines for those who infringe the legislation. The contravention’s size for private people varies between 60 and 90 contravention units (3,000-4,500 lei). Also, decision-makers run the risk of getting fines worth from 2010 to 270 contravention units and for the legal entities, the contravention’s size varies between 240 and 300 contravention units.  

The draft laws will enter into force after its publication in the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial).
