Christmas Fair inaugurated in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 24 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Christmas Fair was inaugurated on the square of the Nicolae Sulac National Palace today evening. The event is organized by the government and is titled, Christmas at Home, under the patronage of Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita.   

The Christmas Tree’s lights were turned on in the presence of the country’s leadership: President Maia Sandu, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita, Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan, other officials.   

In her greeting speech, head of state Maia Sandu said that today exactly one year was marked since she had become president of Moldova. ‘’This is the country which I want and we everybody want to be richer, prouder and happier. This has been a year which put us to unprecedented tests, as well as a year when Moldova restored its good name in the world. This was a complicated year for us and a complicated year for the entire world. As well as a year when the hope appeared. The hope, which nourishes the confidence and the confidence which nourishes the power to transform the dreams into reality. For every man and for all the country,’’ the Moldovan president stressed. 

For her part, PM Natalia Gavrilita said that Moldova entered the nicest holiday of the year with emotion and much joy. ‘The winter holidays mean, first of all, the reunification with the family, the relatives and friends who return home. This is a period when we, the adults, try to release ourselves of cares and borrow from children’s enthusiasm, in order to fully enjoy the period of the holidays. We are happy with the Birth of God, of the year’s renewal, with more time spent with the family, with the friends, with the smiles of people around us. Any community needs such period, during which it experiences these joys together. This year, with the government’s support, the Wolves of Alex Calancea, along with the Osoianu Sisters will bring the happiness to villages and cities of Moldova, to more orphanages, placement centres. I urge you to be united and not to forget that the  change starts from each of us,’’ the official added.   

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan gave speeches today evening as well.

More singers and bands sang at the event.

The Christmas Fair will work in the capital till 9 January. The first issue of the Christmas Fair took place in 2017.
