Mobile vaccination teams to get special equipment donated by WHO

Chisinau, Dec. 29 / MOLDPRES /- 120 laptops and computers, 152 TVs and 1,100 sets of clothing and protective equipment were donated yesterday to medical institutions involved in the vaccination process against COVID-19, with the support of the European Union and the World Health Organization (WHO).

The Secretary of State of the Ministry of Health, Svetlana Nicolaescu, was also present at the event for the transmission of the equipment.

"The support provided contributes to improving the level of use of information systems by health workers, by digitizing the process of collecting data on vaccination against COVID-19 in the Republic of Moldova, but also to streamline the activity of mobile vaccination teams in localities. We are grateful to the European Union and the World Health Organization for their continued support and, probably most importantly, for the lesson of solidarity they have been giving us since the outbreak of this pandemic and beyond, ”Nicolaescu said.

Gintautas Baranauskas, Deputy Head of the Operations Department of the European Union Delegation in Chisinau, said that medical workers, who are part of mobile vaccination teams, doctors and family nurses, should benefit from the best possible working conditions and modern equipment. safe, to make their work easier.

"The European Union will continue to support the modernization of the medical system, so that patients have access to quality medical services, and medical workers - to safe working conditions," Baranauskas said.

"The IT equipment, donated today, will contribute to the endowment of the medical workers from the health centers, the efficient use of the electronic register regarding the vaccination against COVID-19 and the monitoring of the vaccinated persons. WHO, with the support of the European Union and other partners, is always with Moldova by providing technical support, training and donations. We need to further strengthen our efforts to increase the vaccination rate, especially for those most at risk - people with certain chronic illnesses and those over 60 years of age. Extending immunization opportunities is essential to achieve a 70% vaccination rate for all age groups and to successfully stop the transmission of the virus, "said Miljana Grbic, WHO Representative in Chisinau.

The donation is estimated at about 228 thousand euros. The 120 laptops and 120 computers will be distributed to primary care institutions to improve the utilization rate of information systems and the full digitization of the vaccination process. Also, the mobile vaccination teams from the health centers will be provided with appropriate equipment for the proper conduct and promotion of the vaccination process: vest, backpack, cap, T-shirt and protective mask. The 152 TV sets are to be distributed to hospitals across the country to inform at-risk groups about the importance of vaccination, infection prevention measures and the risk of COVID-19 disease.
