Chisinau, 31 December /MOLDPRES/ – The 2021 year was a difficult year for the writers. ‘’This year we have lost our colleagues Nicolae Dabija, Ioan Mânăscurtă, Mihail Gh. Cibotaru, Ion Ciocanu, Efim Josanu, Tudor Colac, Grigore Botezatu, Ion Vicol, Vlad Olărescu, Ion Bradu, Pavel Pelin and Gheorghe Chiriță,’’ the president of the Moldovan Writers’ Union (USM), Teo Chiriac, said.
According to Chiriac, despite the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, in last September, the institution managed to organize the General Assembly of Writers – a remarkable event, during which we managed to elect a new USM leadership. ‘’In this context, I think with a feeling of deep gratitude about the guild colleagues and on this occasion, I offer them thanks for presence and participation. Given that we are on the eve of the New Year, I wish everybody good health, inspiration and new literary achievements. Yet, first of all, I wish them to be happy with the miracle of life, as the joy is the essence of the Christian faith,’’ the USM president stressed.
Teo Chiriac was born in the Cosernita village, northern Floresti district, on 29 May 1956. He graduated from the Philology Faculty, Journalism section, of the Moldovan State University in 1979. He was awarded the honorific tittle Master of Literature in 2010, Order of Honour in 2015, Cultural Merit Order in rank of Officer of Romania in 2014, National Prize (2017), the prize Constantin Stere for literature of the Education and Research Ministry for one of his books.
