Chisinau, January 3 / MOLDPRES /- President Maia Sandu was vaccinated today with the third dose of vaccine against Covid-19, the presidential press service has reported.
"I did it without hesitation - for my health, to protect my loved ones, not to expose my colleagues to the work I do. I also got vaccinated to go free to the localities in the country, in order to meet with the citizens ", the head of state said after the administration of the booster dose of vaccine.
Even though the infection rate in Moldova has dropped in the last month, the new strain of the virus, Omicron, is spreading rapidly around the world and the fifth wave of the pandemic is only a matter of time, says Maia Sandu. The figures also show that those who are vaccinated are much more likely to get over the disease, but also that most of the patients who have received intensive care have not been immunized, many of them risking serious consequences for the rest of their lives.
Maia Sandu urged people to got vaccinated to protect us and return to normal life. "The pandemic has taken thousands of lives to this day - people of different ages and professions. We can stop this chain of death together and I call on you to do it from the first days of the new year. Go get vaccinated, take your relatives or friends with you. It is the safest way to stay alive, to protect our health and that of our loved ones, and to return to normal life ", the head of state said.
