100th birth anniversary of Moldovan political activist

Chisinau, January 10 / MOLDPRES /- Today we mark the 100th birth anniversary of Anatol Corboceanu, a man of culture and political activist, editor, former deputy minister of culture, former deputy head of the Council of Ministers of the MSSR, one of those who contributed to the inauguration of several institutions of culture.
Many notable people benefited from his practical, material, and moral help. He has helped, protected and guided many genuine talents. On 16 November 1970, as an unofficial and nonconformist leader of the Bessarabian intellectuals, he was accused of "passivity" in the fight against "nationalist demonstrations" and released from office, sent to work according to the specialty, as Deputy Minister of Justice in the MSSR , post held until 16 November 1976.
Anatol Corobceanu passed away on 16 November 1976 in Chisinau, following a heart attack. His name is a street in the capital.
