Director of service in Romanian language of Radio Free Europe awarded Order of Honour

Chisinau, 10 January /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today, met the director of the Romanian language service of the Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Oana Serafim, who will soon end her mandate in this position. The head of state thanked Serafim for consistency proved in defending the human rights, in strengthening the freedom of expression and the independent media from Moldova, the presidential press service has reported.
„The team from Chisinau, which you have led for almost 20 years, asserted itself through professionalism and correctness, being always at the centre of events, by the side of people. We need, in continuation, such a journalism – serious, analytical, responsible – this being the instrument which helps us defend the democracy,’’ Maia Sandu said. Oana Serafim was awarded the Order of Honour of Moldova, as a token of high appreciation for the work carried out, for ensuring a correct and fair informing of the public, as well as for the constant support and promotion, during years, of the democratic values from our country.
Attending the ceremony were journalists Vasile Botnaru and Valentina Ursu from the Chisinau Office and Vice President of Radio Free Europe Daisy Sindelar.
