Moldovan speaker sent message of condolence on death of European Parliament President

Chisinau, January 11 / MOLDPRES /-Speaker Igor Grosu sent a message of condolences on the death of European Parliament President David Sassoli, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

"I am deeply saddened to learn of the death of European Parliament President David Sassoli.

I had the honor of meeting him and talking to him two months ago during a visit to Brussels. He was a very good connoisseur and friend of the Republic of Moldova, a devoted European and a great defender of human rights", he said.

David Sassoli was born on May 30, 1956. He was an Italian politician and journalist, he became European Parliament President in July 2019.
