Chisinau, 11 January /MOLDPRES/ - About 300 pillars bearing the contact wires of the municipal enterprise, Chisinau Passenger Electric Transport Administration (RTEC), which provides the movement of trolley buses from the city, will be replaced this year.
The Chisinau city hall informed that, following an inspection carried out by experts of the public transport and communication means general department, decision-makers ruled to replace, this year, about 300 pillars which bear the contact wires. The maintenance will be provided for the other pillars, including the ones of the public illumination consoles.
The head of the aforementioned department, Vitalie Mihalache, said that the pillars of the RTEC contact wires had been set in 1980s and since then, no serious maintenance of these pillars had been made. ‘’The collapse of the two pillars on last Sunday was triggered by the metal’s erosion. The erosion, for its part, was caused by the aggressive substances used for maintaining roads, especially on the winter period,’’ Mihalache noted at an online meeting of the Chisinau municipal services on 10 January.
The concerned municipal services carried out the verification on site of the state of the pillars after on 9 January two pillars of the RTEC contact wires had collapsed on the viaduct which connects the Centru and Botanica districts of Chisinau.
