Moldovan cabinet backs performance in research: 19 students training for doctor's degree to receive Merit Scholarships for 2022

Chisinau, 12 January /MOLDPRES/ - A number of 15 students training for doctor’s degree from Moldova will receive the government’s Scholarship of Excellence for 2022 worth 2,500 lei and another four students will benefit from scholarship according to scientific fields, worth 2,000 lei. A decision to this effect was approved at a today meeting of the cabinet of ministers, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The government’s Scholarship of Excellence and the scholarship according to scientific fields are yearly provided, for one calendar year, to students training for doctor’s degree admitted to the day education and with part-time courses, financed from the state budget and on contract basis.
Thirty six files were submitted from six institutions organizing doctoral higher education. Following the files’ assessment by commissions of experts, 19 students studying for doctor’s degree were selected, of whom 15 will benefit from the government’s Scholarship of Excellence and four ones will get the scholarship according to scientific fields for 2022.
The participants in the contest presented studies in various sectors of science and technology. The experts highly appreciated the works putting emphasis on priority subjects for country’s economic, social and cultural life.
The contest of scholarships for students training for doctor’s degree fits in the governmental programme on support of young people INVOLVED in research projects nationally and internationally. By providing these scholarships, the government is set to enhance the attractiveness of the doctoral studies and their quality, as well as to turn to good account the young people’s potential, motivating them to get involved in the research and innovation activity.
