Moldovan government approves new sanitary, veterinary norms on sub-products of animal origin, products deriving from them, not meant for human consumption

Chisinau, 12 January /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today approved new sanitary and veterinary norms on the sub-products of animal origin and the products deriving from them, which are not meant for human consumption, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The document’s goal is to regulate the process of removal, use, incineration, co-incineration, processing of sub-products of animal origin and the products deriving from them, which are not meant for human consumption, to turn them into biogas, compost, carry, import export them.
The normative act will contribute to the advancement in the process of adjusting Moldova’s legislation to the European Union’s one and the implementation of the commitments assumed in the Moldova – European Union Association Agreement, as well as to the prevention and minimizing the risk of affecting the public health, animals’ health and the environment, generated by these products and, in particular, to protect the safety of the food and fodder chain.
The sanitary and veterinary norms will optimize the system of safety of food products in Moldova through identifying an optimal technical solution of creating a complex mechanism of managing the sub-products of animal origin, which are not meant for human consumption.
