Chisinau city hall calls for closure of Boşcana waste landfill

Chisinau, January 13 / MOLDPRES /- Chisinau city hall is asking the Environment Agency to close the private landfill in Boșcana, Criuleni district.

Mayor Ion Ceban requested at a today's press conference the closure of the household waste landfill located near Boșcana commune. The request comes as a result of several notifications submitted by the local authorities from Budești, Tohatin, Cruzești and Vadul lui Vodă both to the municipality and to the Environmental Agency.

EcoPrivat company, which manages this waste landfill does not meet the minimum European standards in the field. “At this landfill, the minimum standards provided by the local and European legislation in the field are not met. There is no insulation layer that would stop leaks and no signs of waste compaction to prevent plastic pollution of the environment. The waste landfill in Boșcana is an ecological bomb ", said the mayor.

At the same time, Ceban wondered how it was possible for the Environment Agency to grant a five-year operating permit to this waste landfill, given that the landfill at Țânțăreni (Anenii Noi district), in which the municipality of Chisinau has invested large sums for maintenance, it is required to renew its authorization every year.
