Cultural events take place at National Library of Moldova

Chisinau, 14 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Culture Ministry, National Library (BNRM), in cooperation with the Mihai Eminescu Romanian Cultural Institute from Chisinau, today organized a string of events to mark the National Culture Day.
At the events, the launch of the 2022 National Calendar and the one of the book Opera Omnia. I. L. Caragiale, the second edition, 2 volumes, took place. The two volumes appeared in Iasi. Also, an exhibition titled, Ion Luca Caragiale – …a man like a world. 170th birthday anniversary, was inaugurated.
Attending the event, Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan conveyed a message to all culture people, stressing that, in fact, the national culture was anchored in the Romanian language. ‘’Today we pay homage to creative people who dedicated their life to the culture field, often with sacrifices. The culture, education and environment are three pillars of the society,’’ the official emphasized.
In his greeting speech, Ambassador of Romania to Moldova Daniel Ionita underlined that the National Culture Day, just as it is in Romania and the National Culture Day in Moldova were marked under the high spiritual patronage of the great poet Eminescu and thus all the works are celebrated. In the context, the deputy head of the Cultural Institute from Bucharest, Mirel Talos, noted that there was no culture without creators.
In continuation, BNRM director Elena Pintilei, academician Andrei Esanu and the head of the bio-bibliographic researches section, Elena Balinschi, presented the National Calendar at its 30th anniversary. Thus, conceived as an encyclopedic year book, the work comprises bio-bibliographical notes about the most outstanding personalities in the sectors of science, culture and art of Moldova and from abroad. This publication is meant to all those who are interested in great personalities and events from the history of the Romanian nation, as well in the great figures from all over the world, which marked, through their works and deeds, the destiny and activity of the world’s nations during centuries.
The exhibition, Ion Luca Caragiale – …a man like a world. 170th birthday anniversary, proposes an incursion in the documents which show the present interest and the vitality of the great classic writer. It comprises about 250 documents from BNRM’s collections - poems, prose, dramaturgy, books for children, signed by I.L. Caragiale and edited in various times; memories of the protagonist’s contemporaries, dictionaries, encyclopedias, albums, posters, etc.
